JUNE 16, 2018 TANGO THERAPY FOR BRAIN AND BODY

What soothes your heart, lowers your blood pressure, cancels out diabetes, and counteracts depression?

What allows more balance and confidence to those with Parkinson’s disease? And gives people with Downs Syndrome a way to solidly inhabit their bodies with more grace and precision? What unites your psyche with knowledge of the body, inspires your endocrine system with endorphins, and multiplies your chances of a longer and much happier life? Without Alzheimer’s. Argentine Tango.

Yes, indeed; dance your way to maximum health and superior cognitive mastery within the ecstatic embrace of tango! Dancing tango decreases cortisol levels; it relieves stress, improves sleep patterns, and gives a general sense of ease and well being. Being hugged and cuddled significantly increases our sense of well being by releasing the hormone oxytocin into our systems. The closeness of tango and the pulse of tango music can also encourage our heartbeats to synchronize and help dissolve stress and create empathy.

In 2012 a study led by Dr. Pinniger from the University of New England found that tango is as effective as medication in reducing psychological distress. Participants who suffered from depression found that the effects of tango were comparable to medication! Dancing tango gives optimum exercise without strain, increases flexibility, reduces social anxiety, and gives the brain a good workout.

Come to discover fun tango movement through Tango Therapy, a class designed for people post-surgery, with any joint or back problems, or for first-time tango dancers. Your brain will be working hard, and your body will enjoy a bit of challenge and a lot of fun. Class in San Miguel de Allende Mexico resumes on July 3. Class is Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11:15 AM. Custom classes are also in the USA and in other locations in Mexico.
